Herbal De-Tox

Ok….it’s been a little bit for an update.  Well, things have been going pretty good The last few months have been a little up and down for the EDGE.

Typically, Andrew and I generally hit the gym 6 out of the 7 days for a week…or at least try to do some form of activity. If you recall, we try to aim for at least 2 days of heavy weight and 1 day of cardio. This works out to 3 days on for a workout regime and 1 day off.

For a week or so, the cardio was being neglected…and a bit of the diet was getting out of hand. Some bad eating there, sure, but mostly unhealthy portion sizes. I’ve since then gotten a handle on that and am back on plan.

For a workout regime, we’re rotating different workouts into our routine to help keep the body guessing:


Chest:
  1. Incline Dumbbell Press (generally this is harder to do then flat bench but we’re keeping the same weight here…good burn)

  2. Pushups with leg curls on a crunch ball.  This kills

Back:
  1. Pull-ups

  2. Lat Pull – there’s a new machine in the gym that allows us to place true weight (not cable pull) and lift that from the floor up.

Legs:
  1. Yes, we’re doing them.

We’ve also been getting out and enjoying the local weather a bit.  The bike has been brought out of storage and we’ve hit the trails around Lynn Valley.  Here are some pics from one of the outings:



We’ve also just started hiking around the Lynn Headwaters. Yup…that was a wakeup call to get stronger on the cardio…
phew!!! That was hard!!

Other than that, I started a D-Tox program….no no, I’m no druggie…it’s a D-Tox diet to help the body get healthier.  Check it out:  http://www.wildrose.com. The D-Tox itself requires a diet to be followed with herbal supplements that also need to be taken.  It’s essentially no wheat or flour products and helps to focus on ingesting more alkaline/neutral foods vs. acidic foods.  For an idea of what some of these foods look like, check out the following diet plan from Wild Rose:  http://www.wrc.net/wrcnet_content/dietplans/d-tox_diet_12day.htm.  There’s also a cookbook (which I borrowed from Kristen, Andy’s wife) that gives some good ideas on what to whip up using the foods listed (it’s actually pretty good).
